Crashes and Smobs

Im sure its been thought of before. But is it possible to have you not kill a smob, and when the game crashes, you somehow wind up in the smob's room, in a locked door, and no way of escape? This is the second time i died tonight and lost everything because of game instability. its getting very frustrating.

2010 March 7 - Shawnyve

- After some discussion on and off the last few months we have removed Sleep
from the Channeler training. If you currently have it, most lost it because
of dependancy changes, please let a friendly Immortal know so we can remove.

2010 Feb 14 - Maxim

- Lights have more meanings now. Be aware that your character's race makes a
great difference regarding what you can see and how much detail you will
see. And no, Trollocs don't see in pitch black, they're not fades.
- Corpses have a better chance of staying over reboots now.
- NPCs will only loot between 1 and 5 items (randomly chosen) from fallen
PCs. Of course this applies only if you leave a corpse behind with eq,
so newbies (under level 10) are still safe.
- The "air item" weave now can create clubs.
- Idlers should log back on in the room they idled from. No longer should
idlers return to the center of the wheel.
- A lot of other background changes have been made to make the mud more stable.

2010 Jan 16 - Ganelon

- Defenders of the Stone clan is now ingame. Currently housed in the Tairen
Embassy in south Caemlyn.

2010 Jan 6 - Audrya

- Rumors and signet rings are now working correctly
- Boats should now work correctly. PC steered boat also work, however you need
the sailing skill which is not trainable anywhere. We haven't yet decide how
to add this to the game. IF you have a VALID RP reason to sail please contact
clan 103 and we will set it manually for the time being.

2009 Dec 8 - Shawnyve

- I've done a massive overhaul of trainers and what you can practice where. There
are new general trainers in every major city/area now. Some are homeland only,
some totally open. See the forums for more info.

A Dank Cellar

Always save once your out of a smob.

Otherwise it may auto save you in there, crash, and leave you deaded.

Also a problem because "some" keys dont save over boot.


And since you got your gear back, no real biggy :P
Have died over 80 times :P

Well. the funny thing about that is. I used to save after every death. I have a trigger for saving when so much crap happens that it actually slows me down a bit. I know I have to save often. Once I reached level 51 i removed -that- save trigger. I guess its my own damn fault heh.

Its still dumb for it to -ever- auto save you in a smob or force you into a situation where you have no choice but to die and lose it all due to game instability. You shouldn't have to save.

And no, I didn't get my gear back. I have nothing. For now. It doesn't matter one bit how many times you died. Its still very bad for business and doesn't make it okay. You have a very small people who play cause they like the game THIS much. This is like punishing them for playing. :(

and sorry if this sounds whiney, but I just now had an urge to log on and play a bit before work. Then remembered. 'oh right, i can't really do anything in that amount of time. nvm.'

Killed smob, nothing.

We can get you re-eq'd tho, post a list of what you had and we'll get to it :)

Aw thanks Velis. :) I appreciate it. but this was like 10 hours ago. :P It likely crashed several times since then hehe. And the eq ... while the momentary loss bothers me, its more important that this just not happen, ya know?

I don't really know much about mobol or coding whatever is or isn't possible. But maybe it can be made so that it saves you when you enter an adjacent room after the smob dies? Anything would be better then locked in! :P

It hadnt crashed.... was like 7hrs uptime.

Ive always had very weird problems with corpses and mobs looting me. This is something that does still need attention. Thats not to say you shouldnt save after a smob in ANY MUD :P

auto saving is on a timer, every 15m i believe.

I have an idea that might fix it but I don't know if it can be done or even when. we don't have many coders actually able to work right now.
