Mining

Post by Valind »

I'm unsure if this still works, but I figured I'd put it up here. Any takers for checking it out?
Valind wrote:Mining is a relatively simple task, and can be boiled down into a few simple steps.

1) Get pickaxe. (This can be gotten from the Elinelle Weaponsmith, located slightly to the west of the main town.)
2) Go to mining room.
3) Wield pickaxe.
4) Type "mine" without apostrophises.
5) ? ? ?
6) Profit!

Now, the following applies only to House Damodred members only, so if you aren't one of them, kindly procede to the next thread.

After proceding to mine Lord Brend's mine (or your own, perhaps, in future) to your satisfaction, you can keep the ore, (which may be smelted in future, when Tular adds it in), or you may place it in the "pannier" and give it to the "Overseer" (not 100% sure if thats his name, but its the named mob there; will check it later), to receive money based on the type and amount given.

As far as knowledge goes, the mine produces Bornite (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bornite), Chalcocite (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chalcocite), Galena (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galena) and Pyrite (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrite).

In case you were either too lazy or the links did not interest you, following this line is the list of the ores from Lord Brend's Mine.

Bornite is Cu5FeS4. It contains 67% copper by mass, and thus is accordingly used as copper ore.
Chalcocite is Cu2S, and contains 80% copper by mass. It is also used as copper ore.
Galena is PbS, and is (presumably) used to get Lead. It contains 87% Lead by mass.
Pyrite is FeS2. It contains 43% iron by mass, and as far as my knowledge, is our main source of iron.

There is also a gem mine located along the Tar Valon road, look for an western path. Also found there is a smob that would probably slaughter most people, but I think there's a door, so it should be mostly safe.
